Indonesia celebrates death prolific bomber

Noordin Top was considered one of the most dangerous men in South East Asia, plotting some of the deadliest attacks in Indonesia in the past decade.

He is said to have been the financier of Jemaah Islamiyah, blamed for the Bali bombings in 2002 which killed more than 200 people, as well as attacks on two Jakarta hotels in July that left nine people dead and 53 wounded.

But after nine years on the run from the Indonesian authorities, Top’s life finally came to an end following a raid by police on a village house in Central Java.

Al Jazeera’s Step Vaessen reports from Jakarta on a death that is being celebrated as a victory for the Indonesian government and its people.
