Uganda fights to save chimps
They can attract up to $30,000 in the international trade for pets.
So it is no surprise that Uganda’s dwindling chimpanzee population remains a target for illegal traders.
Despite bans on trading in primates, at least 5,000 are poached annually.
But as Al Jazeera’s Sophie Jackson reports, one chimpanzee sanctuary in Uganda is doing its best to rehabilitate them.
