Will Zimbabwe’s post-election political crisis descend into violence?
With a recount still underway, the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) charges that 10 of its leaders have been killed and thousands more made homeless in attacks by supporters of long-time president, Robert Mugabe.
Morgan Tsvangirai, the head of the MDC, is calling for UN intervention and criticised what he characterised as a “lack of action” by Thabo Mbeki, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) mediator.
On Wednesday’s Riz Khan, guest-host Anand Naidoo is joined by Boniface Chidyausiku, Zimbabwe’s ambassador to the UN, and Allister Sparks, a South African journalist and author, to discuss the crisis in Zimbabwe.
