Venezuela aircraft missing

Reports say aircraft with at least 40 on board crashed en route to Caracas.

Noel Marquez, a civilian defence official, told Venezuela‘s Globovision TV station that rescue teams would have to wait until daylight on Friday to begin searching for the aircraft because the rugged terrain in the region made it too difficult to try on Thursday night.

Marquez said local people in the Andean region of Coyado del Condor reported seeing the aircraft go down.

The aircraft is reported to be a French-Italian-made ATR42 twin-engine turbo-prop.
