Dozens killed in Mexico truck blast

Pemex has issued a statement saying it believed the explosions on Monday were sabotage.

It said the blasts caused four fires, and at least five pipelines were affected.

 

Residents evacuated

Government officials have said that 12,000 people in the area had been evacuated. 

A small, left-wing guerrilla group claimed to have attacked a major Pemex gas pipeline in July, forcing at least a dozen companies to suspend or scale back operations.

The explosions in July affected sections of a pipeline extending from central Mexico City to Guadalajara in western Mexico.

The attacks resulted in the Mexican government increasing security at “strategic installations” across Mexico.

It was not clear what security measures were in place at the pipelines that had exploded on Monday.
