Three Thai international footballers have secured trials at English Premier League club Manchester City at the request of Thaksin Shinawatra, deposed Thai Prime Minister and the new owner at the club, according to newspapers on Thursday.

The Football Association of Thailand has picked Kiatprawut Saiwaew, a centre-back, right-back Suree Sukha and striker Teerasil Dangda to try-out at the Premiership club, the Bangkok Post reported.

Shinawatra, the former Thai prime minister, took full control of Manchester City on Monday after purchasing 75 per cent of the club’s shares, and immediately looked towards home in search of new talent.

Thaksin said he expects Sven Goran Eriksson, City’s new manager, to sign at least two Thai players, in addition to the Swede’s lengthy shopping list which includes Olympiakos’s Mexico striker Nery Castillo and Juventus defender Georgio Chiellini.

“It’s an honour,” said 21-year-old Kiatprawut, who plays for Chonburi in the Thailand Premier League.

“I’m ready for the trial.

“I may need time to adjust to the English game and the weather there but I think there should not be a problem,” he told the paper.

Suree said the trial was the chance of a lifetime.

“At first, I thought it was not true, but it is now true,” the defender said.

“I could get a chance to play in the English Premier League.

“I will try my best and hopefully three of us play together in the Premier League,” added the 25-year-old, who also plays for Chonburi.

Manchester City commence their new Premier League campaign away to West Ham United on August 11, the opening day of the season.
