The case was the first time such charges were connected to alleged activities in Iraq.
Al Delaema is said to have travelled from the Netherlands to Iraq with a group calling themselves the “Mujahideen from Fallujah”.
The indictment also alleges he “and his co-conspirators hid explosives in a road in the area of Fallujah”.
If convicted in the US he could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Al Delaema was born in Fallujah, Iraq. He was arrested by the Dutch authorities in 2005 and lost a final appeal against extradition from the Netherlands in December 2006.
