Israel responds with military raids
The Israeli army has carried out a raid in the Gaza strip, hours after nine people were killed in a Tel Aviv bombing claimed by the Palestinian resistance group Islamic Jihad.
The Israeli military also entered Nablus, in the West Bank, on Monday, using more than 80 military vehicles, including bulldozers, Aljazeera learned.
Other incursions were also carried out by Israeli troops in Qalqilia and Jenin, where the Tel Aviv bomber was from, according to a spokesman of the al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of Islamic Jihad movement.
Late on Monday, an Israeli helicopter fired missiles at a metal workshop in Gaza City, causing some damage to the building but no casualties, Palestinian officials said.
The Israeli army said the strike targeted a building used by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine for constructing homemade rockets to fire at Israel.
The Israeli army raids in Gaza and the West Bank came in response to the deaths and injuries caused by a Palestinian bomber who blew himself up on Monday in the deadliest suicide attack of the last 20 months.
