UK forces in Afghanistan investigate whether a soldier was killed by friendly fire.

“We’re aware of reports that a Royal marine may have been killed by friendly fire, and we will not speculate at this time until the investigation will be conducted to establish the fact of the incident,” he said.
Several Afghan security troops and some foreign forces have been killed by friendly fire in Afghanistan since the deployment of tens of thousands of foreign troops following the fall of the Taliban in late 2001.
A Canadian soldier was killed and several others were accidentally wounded in a US bomb attack during a major anti-militant offensive in Kandahar province in September.
