Many casualties in Basra car bomb
A car bomb has exploded in the southern Iraqi city of Basra, killing and wounding many people, witnesses said.

Emergency crews were removing body parts from the area in front of a busy restaurant in the city’s Algiers Street area, which had been packed with families enjoying an evening out as the holy month of Ramadan draws to a close.
Police said there were dozens of casualties.
A spokesman for British armed forces that police the mainly Shia Muslim city said there had been a car bomb blast but had no details.
