Resistance fighters killed in Gaza
Two Palestinian fighters from al-Quds Brigades have been killed by Israelitroops while trying to fight their way through the Kisofim crossing in the southern Gaza Strip, Aljazeera said.
The occupation forces did not mention any casualties among Israeli soldiers in Monday’s attack, according to Aljazeera’s correspondent in Gaza Wail al-Dahduh.
Ambulance teams picked up the two resistance fighters’ bodies, he said.
Earlier on Monday, home-made rockets fired from the Gaza Strip landed in Israel but caused no casualties, Israeli military sources said.
One of the improvised Qassam rockets fell in Israeli territory to the north of the strip, and another close to the town of Sderot, farther to the south, the sources said.
Such rockets are regularly fired from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory, with many of them targeting Sderot.
Later on Monday, residents of the town, where several people have been killed by Qassam rockets in recent months, held a rally to demand better protection from the Israeli government.
Activists targeted
In a separate operation, Israeli military vehicles, backed by helicopters, raided the Absan area east of the Khan Yunus refugee camp in the southern Gaza Strip, Aljazeera’s correspondent reported.
A Fatah activist, Munir Abu Daqqa, was arrested, the correspondent added.
The raid came after a Palestinian woman and her son were killed and her husband was seriously injured on Sunday when Israeli forces, stationed near the Neve Dekalim settlement, bombed western Khan Yunus.
Earlier, Israeli forces arrested 18 Palestinians in different West Bank areas, Aljazeera said.
The overnight operation targeted activists of Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
