Bahraini pilots killed in night crash

Two Royal Bahraini Air Force pilots and a technician have died following the crash of a military helicopter in the Gulf kingdom during a night training exercise.

According to a defence force official on Monday, the remains of Captain Ramzi Abd al-Rahman al-Saad and his co-pilot Ahmed Salem Areeq were found on Sunday night following the crash.

The remains of the helicopter’s technician Abd Allah Muhammad al-Murbati were found early on Monday, the official added.

The crash occurred about 60km off Bahrain and its cause is being investigated.

The last Bahraini military aircraft crash happened in 2003 when one of its F-16 fighter jets plunged into northern Persian Gulf waters.
