Palestinian shot dead in Nablus

A Palestinian teenager has been shot dead and 11 others wounded by Israeli occupation troops in the northern West Bank town of Nablus, Palestinian medical and security sources said.

The Palestinian toll since September 2000 has hit 3226

Salim Al-Kussa, 18, was killed when the Israeli soldiers opened fire on Tuesday to disperse stone-throwing protesters, witnessess added.

Earlier in the day, three Jewish settlers were injured in an attack on their bus east of Qalqilya city in the West Bank, Aljazeera’s correspondent in Palestine reported.

 

Fatah’s al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility for the attack. The Israeli occupation army said it had sent a large number of troops to the area.

 

South of Gaza, Palestinian fighters fired two anti-tank missiles at a Jewish settlement on Tuesday, the correspondent said, quoting Israeli security sources.

 

One of the missiles hit an electricity line, causing a power cut in the settlement, the correspondent added.

 

Nablus raided

 

In another attack on Tuesday, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas movement, claimed responsibility for firing three Qassam 2 missiles at Etsmona settlement in Gosh Qatif compound south of Gaza.

 


The Brigades’ fighters shot the missiles at 6:45 am local time and then withdrew, the statement to Aljazeera added.

Israeli bulldozers demolished
Palestinian houses in al-Qarara

Amid the attacks and counter-attacks, an Israeli special force hit the al-Qasaba neighbourhood in the Old City in Nablus, where clashes had taken place earlier with Palestinians, the correspondent said. 

 

In the al-Qarara area north of Khan Yunis city in Gaza, witnesses told Aljazeera Israeli forces arrested eight Palestinians early on Tuesday.

 

The arrests took place after Israeli military bulldozers carried out widespread demolitions in the area.

 

Meanwhile, Israeli forces withdrew from the al-Shauth neighbourhood and Block J along the Egyptian border south of Rafah refugee camp, the correspondent reported. 

 

Israeli forces had attacked the area late on Monday, destroying a number of Palestinian houses and a wide swathe of farmlands.

 

The attack was accompanied by fierce firing in which two Palestinians were injured, including a youth who was seriously hurt inside his home.
