Palestinians refute Israeli claim regarding victim

Jamil al-Tal, a 34-year-old Palestinian, was killed early on Sunday when Israeli soldiers surrounded his house in al-Thahiriya town, south of the West Bank city of Nablus, our correspondent reported.

The troops took with them the body of al-Tal.

According to witnesses, the army surrounded al-Tal’s home in an apparent attempt to arrest his brother. When al-Tal emerged, the troops shot him dead, they said.

Al-Thahiriya residents refuted Israeli claims that he belonged to the Palestinian resistance group al-Fatah. They said al-Tal had no known links to the resistance movement.
