The police said Konstantin Simeunovic was arrested on Tuesday from Brcko district at the request of the local court in Bosnia’s autonomous northern district.
Simeunovic, a former Bosnian Serb policeman, was during the war a commander of a detention camp in Brcko where Serb forces held Muslim and Croat civilians, the SRNA news agency said.
The UN war crimes court in The Hague gave the go-ahead for his case to be tried locally.
The tribunal has to approve all war crimes trials before they go before Bosnian courts.
