Witnesses said the Israeli missile struck three Palestinian resistance fighters as they were planting a bomb intended for use against Israeli troops late on Sunday evening, wounding at least three of them.

Hospital sources said one of the wounded was in critical condition but died a few hours later.

Earlier, hospital sources said one Palestinian was killed and three others were wounded in another strike on a house in Jabalya.

A man wounded in an air raid on the camp earlier this month died of his injuries.

Israeli occupation troops, backed by warplanes and tanks, have been launching raids into the Jabalya camp since 28 September, when operation Days of Penitence was launched to search for Palestinians who fire rockets across the border into Israel.

Increased strikes

Late on Saturday, two Israeli warplanes also fired missiles at Palestinians in separate incidents in Jabalya.

The second strike wounded two other resistance fighters, hospital officials said.

Tank destroyed

The National Resistance Brigades, the armed wing of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and the al-Quds Brigades of the Islamic Jihad have claimed joint responsibility for destroying an Israeli tank in the Gaza Strip.

The two resistance groups said in a statement obtained by Aljazeera that the operation was carried out near the military intelligence building in Shaikh Zayed city.
