US air strike on Falluja kills 11 Iraqis

A US air strike on a house in the Iraqi town of Falluja has killed 11 Iraqis, a senior doctor at the city’s main hospital has said.

The US military has confirmed it mounted an attack

Aljazeera’s correspondent in Falluja said on Saturday US forces bombed resistance fighters who were trying to prevent US forces from entering, in the north of the town.

The US military has confirmed it had mounted air strikes on houses in the city.

“There were air stikes overnight in Falluja,” a military spokesperson told AFP.

Ahmad Ghanim, a doctor at Falluja general hospital, told Reuters 11 bodies had been brought to the hospital after the strike in the southeast of the town. He said women and children were among the dead.

Witnesses said a US helicopter attacked the house after clashes between US troops and fighters in a nearby area.

They said the house, which was reduced to rubble, was home to a family.
