Nasr Allah murder plot: five charged
Lebanon has accused five people of plotting with Israel to assassinate the head of the Lebanese political group Hizb Allah.
Judicial sources said on Tuesday that charges have been filed by a Lebanese military prosecutor against a Palestinian woman, Jamal Zaroura, and four others.
The charges include forming an armed group to commit crimes, blow up military targets and assassinate Hizb Allah head Shaikh Hasan Nasr Allah.
The charges also include conspiring with Israel and trafficking Israeli-made poisonous goods intended for distribution in Lebanon and other Arab countries.
Lebanese authorities have previously said Zaroura was recruited by Israel’s external intelligence agency Mossad in Tunisia to build a spy ring in Lebanon.
However, a Tunisian official said no one with that name held a Tunisian passport or used that identity to enter the country.

The charges against the five, who have been in custody since early June, could carry a jail term of life with hard labour.
A Hizb Allah spokesman told Aljazeera.net he was not surprised by the alleged plot because he was sure Israel would try to kill Nasr Allah if it could.

But he added: “Despite the recent Israeli murders of the Hamas leaders (Shaykh Ahma Yasin and Abd al-Aziz al-Rantisi), Hasan Nasr Allah will not be taking any more security measures than usual.
“In fact, if he has to die fighting Israeli aggression then he would welcome it.”
Nasr Allah lost his 18-year-old son Hadi in a Hizb Allah resistance strike against Israeli forces in 1997.
Lebanon has in recent years prosecuted several people in connection with plots against Syrian and Iranian-backed Hizb Allah, which helped force Israel out of south Lebanon in 2000 after a 22-year occupation.
Israel assassinated Hizb Allah’s leader Abbas al-Musawi in 1992 in an air strike on his car that also killed his wife and son.
