According to Aljazeera’s correspondent in Ram Allah, those arrested are members of different resistance movements.

Using tanks and bulldozers, the Israeli army also raided a refugee camp in the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah and demolished at least three homes.

The correspondent also reports that Israeli forces demolished 14 Palestinian homes in the Qarara area of the Gaza Strip.

The raid came after the ruling Israeli Likud party rejected Ariel Sharon’s plan to withdraw from the Gaza Strip in a vote observers said was influenced by the killing of a Jewish settler family in the territory.

The raids also follow the attack by Israeli helicopter gunships on Gaza City, which destroyed a 14-storey block of flats.

Three missiles caused the building’s roof to collapse on Sunday afternoon, forcing dozens of screaming women to call for help from their balconies.

Residents said at least two people had been seriously injured though no official source has yet provided details.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old Palestinian boy from Bait Lahya in the Gaza Strip died on Monday after being shot by Israeli troops on Saturday, Palestinian hospital officials said.

The boy, Khalid Bahjat Abu Ulba, had been in critical condition since he was shot in the head by Israeli troops during a raid into the town.

His death brings to 3963 the number of people killed since the Palestinian intifada, or uprising, broke out in September 2000, including 2988 Palestinians and 905 Israelis, according to an AFP.
