US motives in Iraq

Three days after Aljazeera officially broke the “language barrier”, around 15,000 participants in a poll told the English website why they believed Iraq was invaded and occupied.

Majority of voters believe the US invaded for oil

Over 6500 voters believed the war was about controlling oil, while over 5,000 said it had nothing to do with ridding the country of weapons of mass destruction.

The rest, around 3500 voters, said the invasion of Iraq was to safeguard Israeli interests in the region.

Aljazeera thanks the many thousands of visitors for sharing their view points as it seeks to develop an interactive website open to all.
