Saudi and Yemen discuss prisoner extradition
Saudi Arabia’s deputy interior minister met with Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh in Sanaa to discuss the hand over of seven Saudi nationals suspected of being members of al-Qaida.
Both countries are cracking down on Muslim fighters as part of the US-sponsored war on “terror” and after a number of suicide attacks killed scores. In July, Yemen and Saudi exchanged some 15 prisoners.
Bandar Abdel Hakim al-Ghamdi, one of the seven Saudis that Yemen has agreed to extradite, is an alleged member of the cell that carried out the 12 May attacks on housing compounds in Riyadh killing 26.
An unidentified official said that Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdel Aziz and President Saleh also discussed ways of improving security along their common border.
