The attack in the province of Ebb came days after a Yemeni man was sentenced to death in the same court for murdering an American missionary doctor and two of her colleagues last year.

Police cordoned off the court house and were checking a suspect. No official comment was immediately available.

The extent of the judge’s wounds was unclear.

Four days ago Abdel Razzak Kamel was sentenced to death after he confessed to killing three Christian missionaries to get “closer to God and take revenge on Christians and Americans”.

Kamel claimed the missionaries in the town of Jibla were trying to convert Muslims to Christianity.
