Vietnam addicts sell boy as dog meat

Drug addicts in Vietnam tried to sell a young mute boy to a restaurant as dog meat.

Canine flesh is a readily available dish in Vietnam

The Gia Dinh Xa Hoi (Family and Society) newspaper reported on Saturday two addicts kidnapped the homeless 13-year-old from a market in Halong city before selling him to a local restaurant.

They tied up the boy, put him in a sack and sold him for 300,000 dong ($19), the report said. The restaurant owner released the boy, fed him and told the police.

No arrests have been made yet, the newspaper said.
