The dead included four Russians, an aviation official said on Monday.
“The plane burst into flames half an hour from Wau airport. We do know the Russian crew of four and an official of the bank of Sudan all died,” he said.
“There were also members of the police force and the national security apparatus on board, but we don’t have a figure for them yet,” he added.
A helicopter crashed in Sudan in October killing 20 people, mostly members of the armed forces, and a Sudan Airways Boeing 737 crashed on a domestic flight killing 115 people in July.
