Dubai jails Egyptian for topless photos

An Egyptian woman who posed topless for $10,000 in Dubai has been jailed for one month along with two male accomplices.

Woman was promised $10,000 from picture sales

The Dubai Court of Appeals had reduced a first sentence of three months each to one month after the woman, identified only as HIA, had been charged with infidelity and adultery, Gulf News reported.

She was denounced to the police by her own husband, also an Egyptian, after he found two topless photographs at their apartment.

Police gave him a device to record a conversation with an Australian who commissioned the snaps and promised the money from magazine and website sales in Australia, the daily said. No dates for the offences or the hearings were given, the newspaper said.

The Australian, named as MYR, had commissioned the photos, which were taken by another Egyptian, MHR. They claimed the husband had also been in on the deal.

A European woman testified that a similar offer had been made to her by the two men.

All three defendants had pleaded not guilty and the court of appeal dropped a deportation order against them after completion of sentence.
