Workers and activists mark May Day with rallies to demand governments address labour issues.

Each year, people around the world take to the streets to mark International Workers’ Day, or May Day. 

May 1 is a public holiday in many countries, though activities are restricted in some places, leading on some occasions to street confrontations.

Here is a look at some of the events held across the globe on Tuesday.
