Cyclone Gaja battered the southeast Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu last week, bringing the number of missing and dead to over three dozen. By the end of this week, the region is expecting more showers from a weaker disturbance.

In the United States, the northeast experienced its first major snowstorm of the season affecting large metropolitan areas ranging from Washington to Boston. But in the west, California continued to battle the worst wildfires in the state’s history.
