In Pictures: Offensive on Gaza in numbers

The scope of destruction and devastation is increasing daily after 30 days of Israeli offensive on Gaza.

Israel started its attack on July 8. According to the Israeli army, nearly 4,762 targets were hit in Gaza.

At least 1,875 Palestinians, most of them civilians, were killed in Israel’s assault on the Gaza Strip so far, while 67 people, including 64 soldiers, died on the Israeli side. More than 9,800 Gaza residents have also been injured.

The bombings and exchange of rocket fire between Palestinian fighters and the Israeli army has drawn strong reactions from leaders across the globe.

Pro-Palestinian protesters have been staging demonstrations around the world in solidarity with Gaza and in condemnation of Israel’s latest offensive in Gaza. 

The United Nations has condemned both the Palestinian resistance factions’ rocket fire and Israeli attacks on civilians, calling for a cessation of hostilities. In response, Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister said: “No international pressure will prevent us acting with all our force against a terror organisation that is calling for our destruction. We will continue to forcefully attack anyone who is trying to hurt us”.

The Israeli army has said it had hit nearly 4,762 targets on Gaza while it is estimated that more that 3,300 rockets were fired by Hamas towards Israel.

Almost 1,900 Palestinians have died and more than 9,800 have been injured during the month-long bombardments.

It is estimated that more than 430 children were killed and almost 3,000 injured. Almost 40 percent of the total number of victims were women, children, and elderly. 
Hospitals in Gaza struggle to deal with the high number of injured due to lack of basic medical supplies, and power and water. 
A total of 21 medics were killed and more than 80 were injured. There have been incidents were ambulances have been targeted by Israeli strikes.
Thousands of buildings have been damaged since Israel began bombardment of the besieged territory. Mosques, hospitals, residential buildings, and schools have been targeted.
During the bombardment of Gaza, more than 200,000 people found relative safety in 90 UNRWA shelters.

Four UN schools in Gaza were shelled, killing 11 UN staff members.
Israel has also destroyed the only power plant in the besieged territory. 
According to OCHA, an estimated 65,000 people have no home to return to with entire neighbourhoods turned into rubble by Israeli air strikes or tank shelling.
According to the UN, more that 480,000 Palestinians have been displaced.
Members of media did not escape unharmed. At least 11 media workers have been killed in Israel(***)s Gaza offensive, prompting calls for international inquiries.
