In pictures: Global Day of Action
Images are flooding in from around the world as people join Al Jazeera’s Global Day of Action for Press Freedom.

Journalists are not terrorists.
On Thursday’s Global Day of Action for Press Freedom, this was the message being passed around the world as people in more than 30 cities came out to show solidarity for journalists detained in Egypt.
Al Jazeera made the call for the day of action in response to the continued detention of four of its journalists, still being held in Egypt on allegations that the network vehmently denies.
Peter Greste, Mohammed Fahmy and Baher Mohamed, who were simply doing their jobs, are being tried in Cairo, charged with terrorism-related offences and “spreading false news“.
Another Al Jazeera Arabic reporter, Abdullah al-Shami, has been in prison since August 14 and has been on hunger strike for more than 30 days.
Please join the world’s press in a Global Day of Action on Thursday, February 27 with peaceful demonstrations, silent protests and individual images that will send a message to Egypt and the world: If you silence the press, you silence us all.
Journalists from other networks and local media have also been imprisoned in Egypt. This day is a call for press freedom to be restored and for all journalists to be freed.
