At least 28 fans and one driver have been injured by flying debris from a multi-car crash at the Daytona speedway near the end of the nationwide NASCAR race.

Large pieces of debris flew into the stands after Kyle Larson’s car launched into the fence about 200 feet from the finish line during a race in the second-tier Nationwide series.

Race officials said the ten-way car crash sent 14 fans to a nearby hospitals, with another 14 being treated at the Florida speedway, which will host the prestigious Daytona 500 race on Sunday.

They added that the race will go on as planned, despite the indicent, after being repaired.

Larson(***)s car then hit the safety fence sending car parts and other debris flying into the stands injuring spectators.

Larson emerged generally unscathed car after the multi-car crash at the Daytona International Speedway.
Emergency personnel scrambled to put out the fire and rescue those who were injured.
