Friday’s election in Africa’s second-largest oil exporter is likely to extend the term of President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, who has ruled the country for 33 years.
The ruling People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) has held power since Angola won independence from Portugal in 1975.
While economic growth, fuelled by oil wealth and Chinese investments, has been strong, many Angolans complain that inequality and corruption have increased.
