Baking in the Big Apple
New Yorker’s have been trying to cool down as the temperatures have soared.

Published On 5 Aug 2012
It’s been very hot in New York recently.
Temperatures have touched 36C (97F) for the last two days, and the beaches have been packed.
The humidity has also been very high, ensuring that it has felt far hotter than the thermometers have suggested, as hot as 40C (104F).
On Sunday 5 August, things will begin to change as a cold front sweeps across the region. This will finally bring down the temperatures, but could also bring some severe thunderstorms, possibly with torrential rain and damaging winds.
Monday should bring a return to the sunshine for the Big Apple, but fortunately with cooler weather and lower humidity.
