Ivory Coast are the title favourites and their star players, including captain Didier Drogba, Kolo and Yaya Toure and Didier Zokora, are desperate to end years of frustration, including two final defeats after penalty shootouts in the last four tournaments [EPA]

But they have a tough task ahead of them as they sit in Group D with Algeria, Tunisia and an Emmanuel Adebayor-inspired Togo who have all troubled (***)Les Elephants(***) in the past [AFP]
Hosts Bafana Bafana almost got the perfect draw in Group A as they aim to repeat their 1996 home victory. They are favourites to top the table leaving Angola and Morocco to fight for second place with Cape Verde unlikely to impress [EPA]
Ghana top Group B and, having finished third, second and fourth in the last three tournaments are desperate to end 31 years without a trophy. They will face Mali, DR Congo and Niger [EPA]
Group C is shaping up to be an interesting battleground. Defending champions Zambia and Nigeria are likely to fight for top spot and Burkina Faso and Ethiopa will likely end up trying to avoid last spot. Whoever tops the table could dodge Ivory Coast in the quarters [EPA]
Former champions Egypt and Cameroon are notable absentees - both failing to qualify for the second consecutive time - and 2012 co-hosts Equatorial Guinea and Gabon did not make it either [GETTY]
