The children were given digital cameras and attended masterclasses in photography.
They were told to document their own surroundings and experiences.
Their mission was to take pictures of aspects of their lives they wanted to share with the world.
Street children and orphans suddenly had a chance to tell their stories.
The results were mostly touching and sometimes shocking.
They tell a truth that is not often heard in the corridors of power.
It is a reality that is less easy to deny when viewed through the eyes of children instead of through the lens of a professional photographer.
The children embraced the project with enthusiasm.
As well as encouraging creativity, the project helped improve the children(***)s self-esteem.
