Typhoon Nalgae struck the country(***)s main Luzon island on Saturday, killing at least one person, after Typhoon Nesat battered Calumpit on Tuesday, killing at least 52 others [AFP]
Many residents were trapped on rooftops for days during the floods [AFP]
The damage from Nesat alone has been estimated at almost $100m [AFP]
Of the millions affected by the typhoons, more than 200,000 have found refuge in government-run evacuation centres [Reuters]
Government officials have used public radio to call on residents do what they can to help themselves and each other [AFP]
Some resorted to makeshift floaters made out of banana tree trunks to move around [AFP]
