Formed in 2004, the PYO has been financed by Palestinian private donors and arts foundations.

To allow the Palestinians to perform at a festival in Beiteddine, Lebanon, it took three months to sort through the paper work and authorisations.
It then took PYO members living in the West Bank some 25 hours to travel to Lebanon, criss-crossing through Jordan and Syria before arriving in Beirut.
The PYO finally performed before a packed audience at the Beiteddine International Arts Festival held in the Chouf mountains, 45km south-east of Beirut.
