An estimated two million people were in the US capital, Washington DC, to attend the historic presidential inauguration of Barack Obama.

Freezing temperatures did not deter supporters from attending the inauguration.
The US capital was a sea of American flags for the occasion.
Emotions ran high throughout the inauguration as Obama said he was "humbled by the task before us".
