Migration of men leaves Tajik women unmarried

Poverty and lack of jobs forces nearly one million men to migrate to Russia each year, hindering matchmaking chances.

Nearly one million people, most of them young men, leave Tajikistan every year to work in Russia.
The Central Asian nation’s economy relies heavily on the money they send home. 

However, their absence is leaving many women at a loss in terms of finding a partner.
