Turkish film wins top honours at Cannes
Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Winter Sleep – about overbearing man who controls lives of those around him – called “masterful”.

The Turkish film Winter Sleep has won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Winter Sleep is director Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s fifth outing at Cannes.
The film, a dark tale of isolation, is about an overbearing man who controls the lives of those around him. Jane Campion, a film director who led the jury, described the film as “masterful”.
