Who is really at the Rabaa sit-in?

Egyptians from varied backgrounds are at Cairo’s Rabaa sit-in, but perhaps not the groups indicated by signs and flags.

It’s hard to get one’s arms around who exactly is at the Rabaa sit-in in Cairo’s Nasr City, other than the fact that they are either there to support the reinstatement of deposed Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, or, at the very least, are against the return of military rule in Egypt.

Still, there are a number of signs and flags that declare support for Morsi from groups one doesn’t hear much from – such as secularists and youth revolutionary groups.

A number of the posters look like they are printed using the same photo of Morsi, using the same font and are almost identical.

I was curious, so along with a local producer, I took a walk through Rabaa on the first day of Eid to see if these signs and flags represented anyone who was actually there. Be sure to view the captions…
