Pakistanis seek answers on drone attacks

Appearance before Congress by the Rehman family of North Waziristan set to put secret CIA programme under the spotlight.

A Pakistani school teacher and his children will be the first drone-attack survivors to testify before the US Congress on Tuesday. Members of the Rehman family, who were hit by a drone a year ago in North Waziristan, are travelling to Washington DC to seek answers from the US government.

Since 2004 there have been just over 370 suspected CIA drone strikes in Pakistan. The Bureau of Investigative Journalism estimates that up to 3,600 Pakistanis have died.

Al Jazeera’s Kimberly Halkett reports from Washington DC.
