Murdoch launches new UK paper
Sun on Sunday, the News Corp chief’s latest print venture, is likely to be more family-friendly than its predecessor.
The first copies of Rupert Murdoch’s new British tabloid rolled off the presses on Saturday night.
The Sun on Sunday, which was launched with a huge advertising campaign and a print run of around three million, is expected to be more family-friendly than its predecessor, the News of the World.
Amid the fallout of a phone-hacking scandal that triggered the arrest of a string of Sun journalists, industry insiders believe the Sun on Sunday, whose launch was personally led by the News Corporation chief executive, looks likely to be heavier on fashion and football – and lighter on sex and scandal, for which the News of the World was famous.
