Here in Rikuzentakata, Japan, the March 11 earthquake and tsunami did their worst.

Here, those people who couldn’t reach high ground between the former and the latter, were washed away or buried in the mass of rubble that has replaced nearly half of the households.

Here, there are over 1,600 officially declared missing.

Here, so far, 800 people have been confirmed dead.

Here, there are 8 cremations and funerals a day.

Here, there is a long waiting day to be laid to rest.
