Amazon CEO confronted by protester in Las Vegas
World’s richest man heckled by animal rights activist while on stage at a space and robotics event.

The world’s richest person, Jeff Bezos, was confronted by an animal rights activist on Tuesday.
The founder and chief executive officer of Amazon.com, Inc. was being interviewed in front of a large crowd at a conference that his company organised in Las Vegas when a woman jumped on stage and shouted grievances at him about chicken farms.
As he was explaining Amazon’s plans to send satellites into space, the activist appeared on stage with a flower in her hand and introduced herself. She never got close to the billionaire businessman.

Direct Action Everywhere, an international grassroots animal rights organisation, identified the protester as 30-year-old Priya Sawhney of Berkeley, California.
A spokesperson for the organisation, Matt Johnson, says Sawhney was trying to bring attention to conditions at a California poultry farm that supplies goods to Amazon, which is based in the United States.
According to Bloomberg News, Amazon.com Inc. spends about $1.6 million a year on personal security for Bezos, its founder and CEO.
