Greek water privatisation not part of EU deal

Greece agrees to sell $13bn of public assets as part of loan agreement but court rules water industry to be left out.

Greece has agreed to sell $13bn worth of public assets as part of a loan agreement with its eurozone partners as the country tries to climb out of its severe economic crisis.

But a court decision will prevent the privatisation of water, much to the relief of many Greeks who were dreading a rise in household bills.
