Abuse claims cast shadow on UK labour laws

Report details labour misconduct on Filipino workers brought into the country under sponsorship system.

Filipino domestic workers in the UK are facing gross abuses at the hands of their employers from Gulf countries, according to Human Rights Watch.

A new report suggests the exploitation is tantamount to slavery.

But the UK government says it will stand by its visa rules, saying victims of labour abuse are protected under British rules.

Al Jazeera’s Laurence Lee reports from London.
