Returning immigrants propel Albania’s economy

More than 200,000 people resettle in Albania and make investments after years of working abroad.

When the communist regimes fell in Europe, many Albanians began to immigrate to Greece and Italy in search for a better life.

But the economic crisis has now reversed that flow and an estimated 200,000 Albanians are returning to their homeland.

Now the returning immigrants are making critical investments that are having an impact on the local economy.

Al Jazeera’s John Psaropoulos reports from southern Albania.
