Resistance grows over UK fracking plans

Residents oppose plans to drill for shale gas in country’s north, which may be sitting on world’s biggest reserve.

Drilling companies believe that parts of northern England are sitting on the world’s biggest shale gas reserve.
But environmentalists and residents are unhappy with plans to extract the natural resources with a process called fracking.
On Thursday, Prime Minister David Cameron tried to reassure them that drilling for gas will benefit the country.
