US islanders battle telecom giant

Residents of Fire Island, just outside New York City, are battling a US corporate giant to save their telecoms network.

Phone company Verizon wants to replace old copper wire landlines with a wireless system.

But locals say the new system will limit their internet services and stop them from making important calls.
