South Korea work initiative causes concern
Some fear policy aimed at reducing work hours and giving part-timers permanent contracts will lead to low-quality jobs.

South Korea is near the top of the world league for average hours worked per person. In an effort to improve working conditions, the country’s new president has launched the Smart Work initiative, which aims to not only reduce work hours but also provide part-time employees with permanent contracts and full benefits and increase the employment rate.
However, some fear that the labour reforms will result in people being stranded in low-quality work.
